Finally I get to write about setting up a simple backup plan for your digital pictures. Last week I have written about the things that you need in order to be able to backup your pictures. So, assuming that you have an extra hard disk (internal or external) you can start backing up your digital pictures. In this article I will explain how I backup my pictures using SyncBack Freeware software.

Organizing your pictures is like construction in many respects. How does one build a wall? Brick by brick! Simple right? However, without a carefully laid out plan all those bricks on top of each other make no sense. You need to build multiple walls that will make up the rooms and restrooms and the kitchen. Without a larger plan, all those bricks laid on top of each other will make very little practical sense. This illustration applies to organizing your pictures as well. Each of your pictures is one brick and each folder one wall. But how do the walls come together to form a room? What is the larger plan?
I have written last week that it is very important to learn how to use your operating system and your folder structure to organize your pictures, instead of relying on some software that tries to do it automatically. This week I will describe how to name your folders so that you would be able to find your pictures quickly. My method is based on the names you give to your folders. Yes, it takes a little more time but the payoff will be great in the long run.
